Sunday 21 September 2025 – Solar Eclipse in Virgo – 20:54 BST
This is a total eclipse, and it feels like a tide turning beneath the surface of everything. While it’s a gentler, kinder eclipse than most, eclipses still bring endings, beginnings, revelations, and disorientation all at once.
Lunar eclipses release; while the following solar eclipses the next new moon, rebuilds. Together, they form an arc that spans the months ahead.
This one is especially charged because Uranus stations retrograde in Gemini the day before. The eclipse and Uranus retrograde co-presence works to amplify both effects, announcing Uranus retrograde in Gemini, and giving the eclipse an unexpected tone.
Additionally, the first retrograde station of Uranus in a new sign always leaves a lasting imprint, corresponding with world events that crystallise the essence of the transit. At this time, the events and themes around us, are like signatures for the entire passage of the planet in that sign. When Uranus first stationed retrograde in Taurus years ago, shocks rippled through financial systems and resources.
Uranus, the awakener, jolts open awareness in unpredictable ways, forcing a break from what feels familiar. Gemini the connector, brings in themes of communication and information, the buzz and exchange of ideas, our local environment and the human nervous patterning of perception including the human mind itself.
We can expect sudden revelations in how communication, narratives and technology functions. Perhaps particularly, with Pluto in Aquarius, to the shifting territory around technology’s impact on us collectively. With Uranus ripping through the veil, forcing awareness, in combination with the Pisces eclipse, long submerged patterns within families, institutions, or cultures will break through into awareness and we might now face the unimagined before.

In Gemini, we are also reminded of the duality inherent in communication—truth and falsehood, revelation and distraction. Uranus’ retrograde can magnify these distortions before it clears them, meaning this coming week may be a blend of clear insights and chaotic confusion.
The combination of Pisces waters and Gemini winds suggests the surfacing of stories long submerged, coming up for air. With the Eclipse in Pisces, a sign of release, of surrender, and the dreaming realm where hidden forces flow into awareness—memories, emotions, or truth flood through. It’s a time of remembrance and/or reckoning. Of facing ourselves and where we are now.
For us all this eclipse will act like a floodlight on what is hidden. As Moon is eclipsed, its absence paradoxically illuminates what was invisible, allowing latent or unconscious material to come to light. Dreams, forgotten emotions, or neglected truths often surface.
In terms of the collective experience, there maybe revelations around institutions, politicians, or systems that were are on their way out. Eclipses are linked with the rise and fall of prominent figures. Tumbles from grace.

With Saturn now back in Pisces, lingering through the end degrees in its final retrograde, we are brought back into contact with what remains unfinished in that sector of our charts. Wherever Pisces stands in your chart is where you are now closing and completing a chapter. For many, this chapter was seeded last year during the first Pisces eclipse and it will now advance into the next, perhaps even new but different, yet now final stage.
So look back to September 2024, when the first Pisces eclipse of this series unfolded. Consider what journey opened then, and how it now moves into a new stage. Also remember March 2025, when the Virgo eclipse echoed this axis. We stand inside a longer cycle, and this September carries the next chapter.
The traditional ruler of this eclipse, Jupiter, sits strong in Cancer, its sign of exaltation, and a nurturing and protective place for Jupiter. Yet Mars in square pressurises Jupiter. Together, and especially at a lunar eclipse, they can create tension that works to inflame situations or embolden decisive action. Mars has a tendency to interfere with Jupiter more than Jupiter supports Mars, so there is potential for irritation, conflict, or the cutting back of growth. Yet at its best, Mars-Jupiter can also produce bold initiative, courage that acts at the right moment, or a decisive push that carries success.
The timing here matters. Mars is in exact square just days before the eclipse, but the tension peaks as the Moon is full. Some will feel the cut more than the growth, or the irritation surface and tempers flaring. Others may harness the tension, using the drive of Mars with the vision of Jupiter. Either way decisions made in early September will reverberate through the coming months, perhaps even years, because eclipses set patterns far beyond their own moment. And this eclipse is a turning point for this year.
As Saturn is in the same sign as this eclipse (though not in direct contact) there’s a sense of gravity, responsibility, and lessons that just cannot be bypassed. For those whose points or planets are triggered, this eclipse may bring forward the culmination of lessons that have been brewing since 2023, when Saturn first entered Pisces.
In terms of the eclipse itself, it belongs to the eclipse series that runs across Pisces and Virgo, which began last year. We also have the second eclipse (as they come in pairs) a solar eclipse and a more challenging one, later this month.
Pisces dissolves, Virgo refines. Pisces offers the flow of dreams, Virgo brings things into organised form and systems. Eclipses on this axis ask us to move between surrender and discernment, between allowing life to wash through while also learning how to anchor the growth in daily life.

With many major currents in this set of eclipses—Uranus’ lightening awakening, Mars and Jupiter tension, Pisces release, Virgo’s embodiment, Saturn’s weight— we are initiated through illumination and the impact of choices and asked to look at how we handle responsibility, of life itself. How we bear it, what we do when we are in seat of fire or faced with a time of immense pressure. What do we do when life gets uncomfortable? It marks a major turning point for many.
This eclipse carries that atmosphere. It reveals, unsettles, and but kindly, asks us to remember the courage in our hearts. This is where sovereignty lies, in our willingness to witness what surfaces without fleeing, to honour endings without fear, and prepare for beginnings with our hearts engaged.
September’s eclipse sequence have been building for months and will continue into the months ahead. It asks us to stand with our presence amid the uncertainty, to notice now what has been invisible, and to start creating our bridges—internal and external—so we can reorient as we need.
Sovereignty, in the light of these eclipses, emerges from alignment—alignment with the deeper truth we need to face, alignment with the courage we need to muster, and that we are fully capable of creating a new ground for our lives, if familiar territory and known foundations have been removed. Sometimes fate is as it is and we need to trust in our fate in these days, and the days to come.
