Sunday 7 September 2025 – Lunar Eclipse in Pisces 19:09 BST

This is the first of two New Moons in Virgo, the second being a Solar eclipse. And just as some of the intensity eases (created by the Mars-Saturn opposition which thankfully is now waning), a new current of intensity begins.

The Virgo New Moon, with it’s tight square to Uranus, brings in the unexpected and realignments. Venus then enters Leo and opposes Pluto around 26 and 27 August, stirring deep emotional truths, relational intensity, or power plays that force transparency.

Then in the final days of August, the eclipse window begins to open. Saturn re-enters Pisces on 1 September, its final return to complete any unfinished business from the past year. This means that his emphasis shifts from fire to water. From Aries assertion to Pisces surrender.

Still, there is a lot of other yang energy around. With Uranus in Gemini (air), Pluto in Aquarius (air) and Neptune still in Aries (fire) until late October, we are dealing with physical and system burnout. This is where our healthy routines become crucial to sustain our balance and regulation.

This Virgo New Moon speaks of purification, and precision. At the very start of the sign, at zero degrees, it occurs as the Sun also crosses the same threshold. Not only that, but they are activating all the other outer planets, and Saturn, all the beginning of signs.

The chart carries some weight. Its message is grounded, subtle, and finely tuned. But there is also pressure within it. As thought something long-held is being activated, and its implications stretch far beyond the moment. It almost feels like it’s a window into the past too, like it stretches backwards as well as forwards.

At the centre of this lunation is a Yod—the so-called Finger of God. This configuration forms through the long-standing sextile between Neptune and Pluto. These two slow movers have been in a flowing sextile relationship since the 1940s, and so have held that aspect through decades of cultural and spiritual transformation.

And now, while their precise alignment lands in 2026, they are both a 1 degree, so the influence is strong. What makes this New Moon significant—forming the Yod—is its position right at the apex of this formation. Both the Sun and Moon oppose the point right between Neptune and Pluto (mid points between planets are very important), and so focus energy there.

Yods carry a very particular kind of pressure. They create tension between forces that move in different directions—tensions that resist straightforward resolution. In fact, they highlight the inability to resolve tension, so force us into an uncomfortable space, where we feel dissatisfied and incomplete. Like we need more. It’s as though what has been dormant, is awakening and being pulled into present-time so we can see it.

So this kind of moment and New Moon brings us to a space where we need to stop and reflect. While the intensity is high, our energy levels are very low. This time is an opportunity to let something shift inside your orientation. And this needs to happen before an outer direction is clear. A lot of this though is also relational, in how we relate with others.

The chart holds more layers. Uranus, in early Gemini, brings a suddenness, an unpredictable current that may disrupt rhythm or expose blind spots, and as with all blind spots, we can feel liberated or exposed.

Some will feel an impulse to act, to break a pattern or to move forward in some visible or obvious way. Stepping over a boundary we haven’t crossed before. And this is not a bad thing. But perhaps the deeper invitation lies in refinement, in the kind of movement that arises through internal clarity. Virgo leads through precision, and small, tangible adjustments that restore balance from the inside out.

One of the most defining themes of this sky is the current emphasis toward masculine energy. All four outer planets—Pluto, Neptune, Uranus, and Saturn—reside in masculine signs. This places long-range pressure on systems and psyches to move outward, to change or expand, to push through things.

The masculine expresses itself through structure, assertion, and acceleration. When this pattern dominates, relational dynamics begin to shift—this is why a lot of the emphasis is on relational themes. You might have noticed that you are not the same person you were a few months ago, and that things are needing to birth in you, especially in respect to how you relate with others.

The receptive qualities of integration, deepening, softening and timing fade from focus, and the body falls behind the speed of thought, since the yang air element is ultra strong. Our saving grace is Jupiter in Cancer, keeping us connected to our emotional truth, and of course of need to nurture the physical. It still might not be enough, though, to keep us connected to the earth element.

Earth-based Virgo is more internally attuned, and deeply embodied, its connection to rhythm strengthens through deliberate, ritualised actions. It seeks an integrity which emerges through process and pattern. Virgo is interested in what matters. It understands that order arises from rhythm, and through slowness, discernment, and restoration.

This New Moon, seeded right at the start of Virgo season, is book-ended with the Solar Eclipse on 21 September. If we use this cycle wisely, it is a time of reset, of purification, of return to our self-love and routines that support us. True reset unfolds as something remembered and reclaimed—an inner alignment or attunement, that changes our relationship to how we move through the day. This at least is the potential.

Behind this New Moon sits a body from the outer reaches of the solar system: Sila-Nunam. This binary object, orbiting just beyond Pluto, holds a symbolism that reflects these times. Named for a pair of deities from Inuit creation mythology—Sila, the sky god, and Nunam, the earth goddess—speaks to a kind of polarity where one does not dominate the other.

As they move in mutual orbit, like a dance, each holding its own rhythm, they equally remain distinct. Their presence right behind this Virgo lunation offers us the understanding that true polarity lives in rhythm, not in hierarchy. This is what we have lost. Neither do masculine and feminine need to dissolve into sameness, and their balance only strengthens through mutual recognition.

In the current cultural climate, polarity often becomes misinterpreted as opposition or opposing forces. This generates much energy toward projection, toward abstraction, toward of course conflict. But polarity lives in the body. It shows itself in breath, in movement, in cycles, in the way things root and rise. But there is always, always relationship. Virgo remembers this. It brings attention to what’s actually happening, which is rhythm and relationship, the truth we are programmed out of.

This lunation certainly offers no clear answers. As it brings in the new and this will take some getting used to. It does however mark a waypoint—a shift in rhythm, a refinement of orientation. The tension it holds may feel subtle: an internal agitation that we can’t shake, a sense that something is no longer quite right, or a reminder that change is already underway whether we like it or not. Even if the form of all this hasn’t yet revealed itself, it’s there, and will emerge further with the eclipses. So this is the Yod—the Uranian edge.

So while many will say this New Moon is a moment to clear the energetic field etc and I agree it is. It’s also much more—inviting a restoration of our relational integrity—through reconnection to the internal rhythm between differing energies. Polarity can then become generative, when both ends are present fully.

So this time is not easy. And it asks a lot of us if we are prepared to look and see. It invites responsibility through presence, honesty – with ourselves, a guiding energy, resistant to the strong Uranus impulse, in a way. To come back to what we know inside. To what we can trust with the capacity to stabilise and reorient us.

The masculine and feminine bridge can form, if we remember what Virgo teaches, that balance is not still—it’s a living, breathing movement. Masculine and feminine, sky and earth, thought and form, orbiting one another in sacred dance.

This New Moon, while a little abstract in it’s deepest truth yet, is sowing the seed of the pattern that must return, that is returning. And our focus on that dance within every now and again, noticing the reweaving of separation, is supportive for where we are all heading, (each in our own good time of course).

How will this Virgo New Moon affect you

Aries Sun/Rising
This New Moon draws your focus to how you structure your day-to-day life. The way you work, move, and care for your body matters more than the tasks themselves. You’re being offered a reset through rhythm. Let the way you move reflect what you actually value.

Taurus Sun/Rising
What lights you up needs space again. The pull toward order and control may have quieted your creative flow, but this moment brings a chance to bring joy back into form. This is about giving form to what wants to live now.

Gemini Sun/Rising
Your foundations are shifting in subtle ways. The patterns of home, family, and safety are ready for quiet revision. What grounds you may not match where you’re heading. This is a moment to let clarity emerge through small adjustments.

Cancer Sun/Rising
The way you think, speak, and orient is being refined. You may feel pulled in multiple directions, but the deeper work lies in choosing what to attune to. Give yourself space to discern which voices—internal and external—carry weight, and which ones only add confusion.

Leo Sun/Rising
What you hold onto, and what you give away, are in focus now. This New Moon invites you to trace your energy back to what stabilises you. Energy spent without alignment drains. Let your rhythm reflect what actually nourishes your body and your future.

Virgo Sun/Rising
This is a personal turning point. This is a return to what has always guided you—a steady rhythm beneath the surface, ready now to take fuller form. The urge to fix, improve, or perfect may feel strong—but the deeper invitation lies in softening enough to feel what wants to realign.

Libra Sun/Rising
Your attention is being pulled inward. Old habits, thought loops, and lingering energies from the past are surfacing to be cleared. There’s strength in letting go of what’s been silently draining you. This New Moon helps you clean the inner landscape.

Scorpio Sun/Rising
What you contribute—and how it aligns with the people around you—may need refining. Collective goals, shared visions, or group dynamics are shifting. Virgo brings discernment. This is a moment to clarify your role without sacrificing your direction.

Sagittarius Sun/Rising
Your focus turns to what you’re building publicly—how you show up, what you’re responsible for, and where your deeper values meet your visible role. The outer structure of your life is only as strong as its inner integrity. Let this New Moon reorient the foundation.

Capricorn Sun/Rising
You’re widening your lens. The stories that have guided you may no longer match what you’ve lived. This is a time for perspective gained through lived experience. Travel, study, or silence may help you see what’s been just out of view.

Aquarius Sun/Rising
Exchange is at the core of this New Moon for you. Whether through intimacy, finances, or energetic bonds, something is being rebalanced. Virgo invites you to untangle what has become enmeshed.

Pisces Sun/Rising
This New Moon brings your relational world into focus—who you’re with and how you meet them. Patterns of giving, adapting, or holding back may come into sharper view. This is a moment to honour your own rhythm within relationship, and let mutuality grow from there.
